Greenpoint Store & Customer Service Lead
Quaker Marine Supply Co was founded in 1949 by Joe Kadison, a Coast Guard Veteran in Philadelphia. The company began as an outfitter specializing in marine hardware and clothing. Starting in the sixties, QMS became known for its long-brimmed caps, notably the Swordfish and the Oysterman, with its patent-leather bill. The company initially was known for serving the sea-loving crowd and now has expanded our products to reach a variety of audiences. Our most notable customer who one may know is Ernest Hemingway, who wore it duck hunting in Idaho and sport fishing in Cuba and Key West.
As the Greenpoint Store Lead, you will be the brand’s representative to anyone who walks in the door. You will use your initiative and problem solving skills to build our first NY flagship store into a profitable arm of the business that drives brand awareness and fosters a sense of community around the brand. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Retail Sales & Store Operations
- Help customers navigate our brand with the mantra of “make a customer, not a sale”.
- Request product transfers from Greenpoint HQ, receive merchandise, and collaborate with the office team on merchandising retail floor.
- Create and maintain the schedule for all Greenpoint retail employees.
- Collaborate with the office team on store event planning.
- Fulfill online orders as needed.
- Document ongoing best practices for running the store and customer service, i.e. store checklist, how to process an exchange, online order fulfillment etc.
- Establish the Greenpoint Shop as an important content creation center for digital
marketing initiatives such as Instagram posts, paid digital initiatives, and email.
- Send end of day reporting with store metrics and customer service notes of the day.
- Lead weekly retail strategy and operations meeting.
- Ensure inventory levels are correctly reported in Shopify and lead quarterly full
inventory count.
- Maintain a compelling 3rd party product and vintage clothing/artwork/furniture
assortment in store that rotates on a consistent basis.
- Develop relationships with key community partners such as restaurants, bars, cafes, and personalities.
Customer Service
- Respond to customer inquiries via Gorgias, phone, and email.
- Monitor voicemail and return customer calls.
- Escalate issues as needed to appropriate channels.
- Share customer insights, recurring issues, comments with full team.
- Continue to develop customer service manual as new issues arrive.
