Shaping the Brim

For the best success in shaping the brim, we recommend heating it with use of steam, or simply by leaving it on a sunny windowsill. Then mold to your liking!

Cleaning

And when it eventually does get dirty through hard wear on the open seas, spot clean with soap and water — or just dunk it in the nearest body of water and let it dry in the sun.

The Oysterman sums up everything QMS is about. Designed for sun, wind, and water; this cap has been around since   the company’s founding in 1949 on the docks of Philadelphia.

It was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway, who wore it duck hunting in Idaho and sport fishing in Cuba and Key West. Quaker Marine offered this hat for more than 60 years before the business closed down during the Great Recession.

Today, we proudly manufacture the Oysterman and other classic QMS originals – by hand – right here in the USA.
